In Fighting Monkey workshops we address various topics of movement behavior, health research and self-designed vitality.
The practice:
Fighting Monkey Practice sometimes seems like a mixture of yoga, martial arts, tribal dance, Tai Chi, skill training, games, calesthenics, physiotherapy, shadow boxing, athletic training, etc.
This awakens the spirit and inspires you to leave the beaten track and look at things from other perspectives.
Open workshops are suitable for all levels - from beginners to professional athletes.
More about the content:
The central elements are
- Articulations - How do I learn to use the correct sequences and movement paths of my body through guided movements
- Coordinations - Short sequences and movements to develop elasticity, rhythm and dynamics and to use the tissues in the body in a humane and species-appropriate manner (reminds some of sport-specific movements and others of "ninja choreography")
- Improvisation - To learn new things we try new things; sometimes guided by quality, sometimes to solve a problem, sometimes to "remind" the body parts what they are actually capable of
- Movement Situations - We create different movement situations, partner games, challenges to challenge and promote different aspects of the body and mind. Playfulness and ambition support the development of our movement intelligence
- Evolving communication strategies - From our experiences we develop an ever better understanding of what we want, what we need and how we can achieve it.
A unique mix of practices has been created from traditional and modern methods. We want to use this to understand human existence in today's world and examine our beliefs in order to shape our own development in a self-determined way.
We develop a dynamic, adaptable concept of thinking and movement that is universally human - regardless of culture, personal history or performance.
This practice includes much more than just movement elements; we use all areas of life to understand life energy and to positively influence it with our behavior.
Curiosity, creativity and the exchange with other people play just as important a role as conventional movement concepts that we know from exercise medicine and sports science.
We train, study, discuss, wrestle, dance, try, observe and experiment - all to better understand how we can (re-)awaken the genius of being human and use it in our lives.
About Fighting Monkey:
FM practice is developed by founders Jozef Frucek and Linda Kapetanea through a deep study of cross motion analysis, and with the aim of understanding principles of human movement, communication and the aging process.
