In Fighting Monkey workshops, we focus on various topics related to movement behavior, health research, and self-designed vitality.
The Practice: Fighting Monkey Practice sometimes feels like a blend of yoga, martial arts, tribal dance, Tai Chi, skill training, play, calisthenics, physical therapy, shadow boxing, athletic training, and more.
It awakens the spirit and inspires leaving well-worn paths to see things from different perspectives. Open workshops are suitable for all levels—from beginners to professional athletes.
More about the content: The central elements are:
- Articulations: Learning how to use the proper movements and pathways of the body through guided movements.
- Coordinations: Short sequences and movement patterns to develop elasticity, rhythm, and dynamics while using the body's tissues in a human-appropriate way (some may recognize this as sports-specific movement patterns, while others see it as "ninja choreography").
- Improvisation: To learn something new, we try new things; sometimes guided by quality, sometimes to solve a problem, and sometimes to "remind" body parts of what they are capable of.
- Movement Situations: We create different movement situations, partner games, and challenges to stimulate and develop various aspects of the body and mind. Playfulness and ambition support the development of our movement intelligence.
- Evolving communication strategies: From our experiences, we develop a better understanding of what we want, what we need, and how we can achieve it.
From traditional and modern methods, we have created a unique blend of practices. Our goal is to understand what it means to be human in today's world and to examine our beliefs in order to shape development independently.
We are developing a dynamic, adaptable thinking and movement concept that is universally human—independent of culture, personal history, or performance level.
This practice involves much more than just movement elements; we use all areas of life to understand life energy and positively influence it through our behavior. Curiosity, creativity, and interaction with others play as much of a role as conventional movement concepts known from movement medicine and sports sciences.
We train, study, discuss, wrestle, dance, experiment, observe, and experiment—all to better understand how to (re)awaken the genius of being human and use it for our lives.
About Fighting Monkey: FM practice was developed by founders Jozef Frucek and Linda Kapetanea through a deep study of cross-motion analysis, with the aim of understanding the principles of human movement, communication, and the aging process.
